Water Privatization a Big Issue at Water Conference

Recent protests during the International Water Forum in Mexico City have mostly revolved around the privatization of water. Countries like Bolivia have fought hard to resist the privatization of this precious resource for many years. However, in some respects water has been subtly privatized by companies such as Coca-Cola, who sell bottled purified water throughout the developed and the developing world. While a simple home water filter attached to the tap could economically purify thousands of gallons of water for a small family, many people choose to buy bottled water instead. The plastic bottles also contribute a massive amount of waste to our landfills. You can help make a bold statement about the privatization of water by using a home water filter instead of buying bottled water. Please check out the International Water Forum Website for more information about this important event.
